The Alpha Desk

Disclosures

Last updated 11 September 2026

Read this one properly. It is short, and it is the part that determines what you should and should not do with anything the desk tells you.

Not investment advice

The Alpha Desk provides information and education only. It is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, futures commission merchant, or tax, legal or accounting adviser in any jurisdiction. Nothing it produces is a personal recommendation, an offer, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security or instrument.

The desk does not know your complete financial position, your obligations, your tax situation, or anything you haven't told it. Even where its answer names a specific instrument, that is illustration of a method, not a recommendation to you.

No fiduciary relationship

Using the Service does not create an advisory, fiduciary or agency relationship. We owe you no duty to act in your best interests in respect of investment decisions, and we do not monitor your positions or contact you when circumstances change.

Risk of loss

All investing involves risk, including the loss of the entire amount invested. Leveraged products, options and derivatives carry additional risk and can lose more than the premium paid; they are not suitable for every investor. Before trading options, read the standardised options risk disclosure your broker is required to provide.

Past performance

Past performance does not predict future results. This applies to every historical figure, chart and backtest in the product.

Backtests in particular are hypothetical. They test a combination chosen with the benefit of hindsight, which flatters the result. They do not include trading costs, spreads, slippage or taxes. No hypothetical record can account for how you would actually have behaved while it was losing money.

Market data

Market data is supplied by third parties and may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. Quotes, option chains and implied volatilities may not match your broker's. Check any figure against your broker before you place a trade on it.

How answers are produced

Answers are generated by an automated system, informed by available market data and by the written standard we maintain. That system can be wrong. It can misread a question, miss context, or state something with more confidence than the evidence supports.

We instruct it not to invent figures and to say when it doesn't know — but you should treat every number that matters to a decision as something to verify independently before acting.

Our standard is a view, not a truth

The desk answers from a specific house method. That method reflects particular judgements about how much to hold in one name, for how long, and in what form. Reasonable professionals disagree with parts of it. It may be unsuitable for your circumstances.

Conflicts of interest

We receive no compensation from any issuer, broker, fund, exchange or platform for coverage, placement, referral or recommendation. Nothing in the Service is paid for by a third party, and no security is discussed because someone paid for it to be.

Personnel and contributors may hold positions in securities the desk discusses. They are not required to disclose those positions to you, and you should assume they may be held.

Jurisdiction

The Service's legal jurisdiction is Hong Kong. It is not directed at anyone in a jurisdiction where its distribution or use would be contrary to local law or would subject us to a registration requirement there. You are responsible for complying with the rules that apply where you live, and for determining whether you may lawfully use the Service.

Third-party names and trademarks

Ticker symbols, company names and logos are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification only. Their use does not imply any endorsement of, or affiliation with, The Alpha Desk.

Our contributors are not named. Firms appear on this site only as the institutions they came up through, and only in that capacity. The Alpha Desk is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any financial institution, and nothing produced by the Service originates from any such institution, represents its views, or is offered on its behalf. Contributors act in a personal capacity only.
